This beauty was overall in great condition. The edge had some loose woven inserts that had to be replaced, but this project was really worth the effort. Staples stabilizer was applied around the entire border. Minimal center quilting and continuous curve border provide an inexpensive finish. Binding is Moda's Green Apple Bella Solid.

I am about to bind a vintage quilt with a similar edge as this one except the pieces between the ice cream cone petals are wider than in this one. Do you have any pictures on how you went about binding it? I have been looking for instructions on curved binding and obviously i will use bias binding, but I am not able to find any with such small bits before every direction turn.

Hi Marissa, I cut my own bias binding @ 2.5" wide. It was somewhat difficult to attach, and I can't say it was completely flat when finished or that every turn was perfect, but the "ice cream cones" varied in size to begin with. I did try to make more of a curve between the cones rather than a sharp turn. I usually do machine binding, but it is helpful to machine stitch the top and then hand stitch the back so the binding can be better placed. Good luck with your project! I've seen this quilt with the curves cut off, but I like it better with the scalloped edge and wanted to stay true to the original.
