Serial No. AJ632999 made 1950 Elizabethport, New Jersey
Featherweight 221 with accessories and case (see below for content details).
Before Foxtail lists a Featherweight for sale, machines are thoroughly cleaned, oiled and lubricated, and tested. This is an extensive process and among other things includes as necessary:
* Disassembling and cleaning the complete bobbin hook assembly (includes rotating hook, bobbin case base, hook loop guard, gib hook and screw);
* Disassembling and cleaning the entire tension unit;
* Disassembling, cleaning and oiling the hand wheel (the part that allows a bobbin to wind without the needle going into motion);
NOTE: This machine has been disassembled, thoroughly cleaned and oiled at the hand wheel, however, the needle may still want to move when the bobbin winds -- even with the outer wheel disengaged -- lightly holding the take up lever when first beginning to wind a bobbin will cause it to remain disengaged (so that the needle won't continue to move up and down when a bobbin is winding). After bobbin winding, the machine wheel re-engages properly for sewing.
* Thoroughly cleaning all gears and all accessible areas of the inside of the machine with kerosene and applying lubricant and oil per Featherweight specifications;
* Removal of old lubricant in the motor ports and reapplication of new lubricant.
* Any parts that are not in good working order are replaced with working vintage parts or new parts (such as foot pedal cords).
